This is the remains of the Tudor 7 G-AGRX (aka VX199). It was allotted (1949-53) to the Malvern-based Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) and delivered, as G-AGSU, to TRE's Defford airfield. It was flown from there as VX199, on trials for development of guided missile infrared seekers. That is the IR sensor housing on the nose tip. It was sold to Flight Refuelling on 9-10-53 and delivered (still as VX199) to Tarrant Rushton. FR restored it to G-AGRX in Oct 53, and probably didn't use it before selling it on to Aviation Traders in March 54 - which is likely when it made its final flight (TR to STN). It lingered on at Southend, I think, until c 1959.
